For over seven decades, Caribbean music has been colored by the light, highly resonant sound …
With many Instagrammed pics from the R&B beauty Melanie Fiona, of her crew reacting to the music video, “Wrong Side of A Love Song, mouths agaped, its’ debut finally premiered last night before the Grammy Awards.
Posted on Jay-Z’s Life + Times blog, the Grammy winner showed an authentic, emotional narrative on the ups-and-downs of love. Her desirable co-star, actor Omari Hardwick, plays the love interest who decides to dip out on her and the relationship.
Directed by “Love Jones” actor Larenz Tate, the video showcased split-screen shots between Fiona and Hardwick as their chemistry grew, then faded over time. Just in time for Valentine’s Day (*sigh*).
In an interview with Rap Up, Fiona talked about her experience making the video.
“It’s very raw and it’s acting, and it’s very, very truthful,” she told Rap-Up TV. “It was really a meeting of the minds and talents and artistry to bring this to you guys. We wanted to tell a powerful, powerful story.”
“Wrong Side of A Love Song” is off of Fiona’s sophomore album, The MF Life. Her third album is currently in the works.
