This week, dancehall artist Popcaan has been getting plenty of attention.

The former deejay is featured in Snoop Lion’s “Lighters Up” music video, released Friday, and allowed LargeUp to follow him for a day in his Three West neighborhood.

LargeUp, who has covered Popcaan’s career for some time, received an invite to Portmore, Jamaica, where they capture Popcaan spending time with his Unruly crew, playing football, and recording music at the studio.

Long-time friends and neighbors chime in on his talents and attest to how he inspires the youth. In the video, he talks about his life in Portmore, going to school, starting his music career, and what it means to be home.

Noisey Jamaica’s dancehall series continues with Popcaan in Episode 2. The Vybz Kartel protégé runs through a practice with his band in preparation for a concert, and later in the night, celebrates his birthday at QUAD nightclub in Kingston.
